Beach Cleanup with Fern House

Part of the pathway to long-term sobriety is doing things for others with no expectation of reward — what we call service work. It teaches humility, builds community, and reminds our residents that recovery is bigger than any one person.

On a bright July morning, our clients headed out to Jupiter Inlet Park to take part in a community beach cleanup. Armed with gloves and bags, the crew combed the shoreline and left it noticeably cleaner than they found it.

The event brought together volunteers from across the community, including FedEx Cares, Suncoast High School, and Palm Beach State College. WPTV Channel 5 stopped by to cover the effort and share the story with the wider Palm Beach community.

We are grateful to everyone who came out, gave their time, and worked alongside our residents. Service days like this are a cornerstone of what we do at Fern House — and we look forward to the next one. If you would like to join us at a future event, get in touch.
