Your First 30 Days at Fern House: What to Expect
By Fern House ·

Fear of the unknown keeps a lot of men from taking the first step toward recovery. If you know what the first month looks like, that fear has less room to grow. Here's an honest picture of your first thirty days at Fern House.
Week one is about landing. You'll settle into the house, meet your peers and the staff, and learn the daily rhythm — wake-up, chores, meetings, and curfew. The structure can feel like a lot at first. That's by design: in early sobriety, routine does the heavy lifting your willpower can't do alone yet.
Weeks two and three, the routine starts to feel like yours. You'll attend AA and NA meetings, take part in house responsibilities, and begin the practical work of rebuilding — looking at employment, reconnecting carefully with family, and setting small, reachable goals. The accountability is real, and so is the support standing behind it.
By the end of the first month, most men notice something they hadn't felt in a long time: a little stability. Not everything is fixed — recovery is a longer road than thirty days — but the foundation is set, the brotherhood is real, and the path forward is clear. That's what the first month is for.
